Weekend plans in peril? Comic-Con to the rescue! This Friday, April 18th through Sunday 20, the Javits Center geeks out with gaggles of fanatics lustily thumbing limited edition copies of their favorite picture pages. This year, living legend Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Hulk, to name a few, will receive a special comics legend award. But never mind the manga, Batman; the best thing about Comic-Con is the rabid fans donning their favorite hero or heroine’s capes, caps and codpieces. But sheath that sword, oh powerful one! From the Web site:

CAN I BRING A SWORD? CAN I BUY A SWORD?
If you’re bringing, buying, or selling something that could maim, damage, or cause serious bodily harm, we’re going to take issue. Please read our Costume Weapon Policy and Weapon Sales Policy before attending or exhibiting at New York Comic Con with a weapon.

In addition to the comic book chaos, catch concerts, lectures and even play some video games. Special thanks to my pal Leks for the heads up on such a geektastic occasion!

Comic-Con runs Friday, April 18 from 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Saturday, April 19 from 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM and Sunday, April 20 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Buy tickets online through Thursday to get a discount. Online tickets: weekend passes are $45, Friday passes are $30, Saturday passes are $35, and Sunday passes are $30. On site tickets: weekend passes are $65, Friday passes are $40, Saturday passes are $45, and Sunday passes are $40.
