Brilliant! A multi-month festival dedicated to decoding your dendrites, Brainwave NYC brings a smorgasboard of mind-bending lectures and events combining art, music and meditation with science and psychology. Several prominent mind-brain city centers sponsor the happenings, including the oft under-appreciated Rubin Museum of Art. The festival runs through June.

Philoctetes Center Saturday, March 15, 3:30 p.m.
The Mirror and the Lamp
A roundtable exploring the building blocks of the imaginative process. Experts weigh the manner in which artists receive inspiration from both the outside world and the cortical processes of the brain’s right and left hemispheres, which play a role in the formation of imaginative constructs.
