The wacky world of NYC continues to amazing with the most quirky expeditions I’ve ever encountered. Take, for example, this Thursday’s free Chinatown Garbage Tour (note: the image in the link is a bit foul, but if you are even clicking through, you should know what to expect). Taxidermy artist Nate Hill sifts through half-eaten lo mein and discarded General Tso’s for animal parts, which he then fashions into new creatures as “art.” In the 45-minute tour, garbage tourists will sift through bins and barrels for unique finds such as frog heads, fish bellies and chicken claws, which Hill will show you how to sew together into your new best friend. Gross? Certainly. An adventure you’ll never forget? Definitely. For better or worse.
One man’s garbage is another man’s weird polymorphic animal art.
Chinatown Garbage Tour meets Thursday, March 27th at 9pm on the SE corner of Canal and Lafayette. Latex gloves, first aid kit, wet wipes, and antibacterial gel will be provided. Bring your own plastic “goodie” bag to bring home your finds. Post-hunt drinks a taxidermy hot-spot Home Sweet Home.
